I hold a Master of Social Work and am a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers. I also hold a BA and MA in Sociology.
I believe in the resourcefulness and resiliency of every individual. My clinical approach is feminist, trauma-informed, relational, and strengths-based. I prioritize safety, collaboration, and respect for each person’s lived experience. Whether working with adults or children, I aim to create a therapeutic space that is compassionate, thoughtful and grounded in evidence-based social work practice.
I have several years of experience in early learning and childcare settings and offer play-therapy informed counselling to children, as well as parenting support. I draw on Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) approaches, and incorporate sand tray work, board games, and expressive therapies (eg., art). I work collaboratively with parents and caregivers using an attachment lens.
I have worked extensively with individuals and families impacted by domestic/intimate partner violence, providing psychosocial assessment, safety planning, support with emotion regulation and coping with trauma impacts, advocacy and systems navigation. My approach is intersectional and recognizes how survivor’s experiences of violence are linked to social, economic and political factors.
I believe that every individual is the expert of their own lives, children as well as adults. I offer an open and non-judgmental space and welcome any questions you may have about the process.
